    Postcard design inspiration

    Posted: 15 Dec 2011 12:15 AM PST

Preparing to send that Christmas postcard to your loved ones? How about some postcard design inspiration that you can browse through to get more ideas on the kind of postcards that you can choose from. Don’t settle on the old and boring designs! Time to be creative and see what possibilities are there in postcard design.

(Note: there was a saving error when I wrtoe this post, resulting in lossing a majority of the text that I had typed in, including the source. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to save the urls for the sources so apologies in advance to those which work appeared behind but was not credited)

    Unique postcard design

Some postcard designs are just so unique and cool that you don’t know how to group them.  The following is one such design. The designer tries to relate geometry and typography in his work, resulting in something that is fresh and rarely seen.

    3D postcard design

For a more dramatic effect, check out these 3d postcard designs. Pop up postcards might be common but it is still hard to find one where the design is slick and elegant. Below are 3d postcards that are really well done and show how a well executed 3d design concept can look like.

    Photoshop postcard design

Some postcard design win by the sheer magnificance of the photoshop effects being done to the postcards.

    Minimalist postcard design

This postcard design wins the most minimalist award from me. Nothing else except white on white.  If you are the type that likes such a design, try using this concept on your next postcard.

    Vintage postcard design

Vintage postcards convey a romantic and warm feel to those that receive it. For a festival such as Christmas, sending vintage postcards might be something you want to consider.

    Wooden postcard designs

I like the following postcard design because it cleverly uses a different materials. Again, goes to show that materials makes a lot of difference to our designs. If we can experiment different materials for different design forms, we might be surprised by the kinds of innovations that we can see.

    Foldable postcard designs

Similar to the 3d postcard designs, this foldable concept  gives you a three dimensional view of the card. However, this is better than the 3D postcards because the receiver can actually play with it, making it more interactive and memorable : )

    Postcard design as packing

Some companies used postcards as marketing materials. If tastefully done, these packing postcard designs can be quite attractive as well.
